Situated to the north-east of Jeddah’s city centre, Al Nassim is a residential suburb along Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast. It’s clustered with several ornate mosques and an abundance of eateries and is on the doorstep of one of the largest shopping malls in the country.
Things to do in Al Nassim
In the heart of Al Nassim is the Khadija Baghlaf Mosque, a beautifully designed building that’s abuzz on Fridays when devotees come to attend prayer sessions. It’s a short walk from the Al-Noor Mosque, which overlooks a palm tree-dotted park where you can relax on warm summer evenings.
On the southern edge of Al Nassim is the Al Salaam Mall, a three-story shopping centre packed with international fashion, electronics and accessory stores. When it’s time to eat, you can head to Charley’s Philly Steaks, Applebee’s or Saaj Reefi, followed by a sweet treat from Baskin Robbins. This huge shopping mall is also home to Babel Land, a kid-friendly entertainment area featuring rides and an indoor roller coaster.
Across the street from the Al Salaam Mall is the Al Andalus Mall, another large shopping centre with big-name global retailers that include Mango, Guess and DKNY. If you’re after groceries, there’s a well-stocked supermarket, as well as a lively food court where you’ll find a diverse range of eateries that include Jan Burger, Sayadiyah Express and La Casa Pasta.
Getting around Al Nassim
Al Nassim is around 15 minutes’ drive from the centre of Jeddah and 25 minutes from King Abdulaziz International Airport. Taxis are the main means of getting to Al Nassim and the neighbourhood is compact enough to explore on foot.
