Taiping Mountain immerses you in the wild and rugged natural beauty of Taiwan. The mountain sits within the Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area and will enchant you with its cobalt-blue lakes and forested peaks. At almost 2,000 metres above sea level, the mountain treats you to a cool climate, with the mountains often veiled in mist and clouds.
Enjoy some of the best hiking in Taiwan, with trails winding through the forest and taking you past towering Taiwan Cypresses trees, some hundreds of years old. After a long hike, soothe your muscles with a soak in mineral-rich Jioujhihze Hot Spring.
The Taiping Mountain Forest Railway, also known as the Bong Bong Train, follows the route of an old lumber track and is a family-friendly way to explore the Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area. A self-guided forest trail starts at the station and takes you through lush fern groves.
