Tabuk is a mecca for archaeologists and was once home to the Nabateans, who inhabited the region 700 years before the Prophet Mohammed was born. The Museum of Antiquities and Traditional Heritage showcases fascinating exhibits spotlighting Tabuk's pre-Islamic rock art.
Tabuk is a gateway to the ravishing Red Sea coast. With crystal-clear water, powdery sand and swaying palms, Umluj Beach is often crowned one of the Middle East's most beautiful stretches of sand. There's also fantastic scuba diving around coral reefs, shipwrecks and diverse marine life.
Visit the 80,000-square-metre Hejaz Railway, which houses an artisan workshop and handicrafts centre. History buffs shouldn't miss Tabuk Castle, an ancient stronghold that's been watching over the city since 1559. Today it houses a small museum showcasing antiques, weaponry and Arabic scripture.
Tucked away in Tabuk's old quarter, Souq Twaheen is filled with vendors selling fruit, vegetables, grain, cheeses and meats. It's also famous for baking the region's best bread.
Getting around Tabuk
Tabuk is easy to get around on foot, with most attractions within walking distance. The city is serviced by local buses, but you’ll need a rental car to access the nearby beaches. Tabuk Regional Airport, also known as Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Airport, is a 10-minute drive away.
