Songjeong-dong is a lively neighbourhood set on a tributary of the Han River. Fast public transport connections make it easy to sightsee in Seoul’s city centre, where you can visit attractions like the National Museum of Korea, Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village.
Things to do in Songjeong-dong
Venture into the neighbouring district of Seongdong-gu to visit Under Stand Avenue, a cultural complex and hub for artists, writers and musicians. Sip Italian-style espresso at trendy cafes, browse independent boutiques and admire art at local galleries. The complex also hosts regular live music performances.
Escape the city and reconnect with nature in Seoul Forest. The wooded park is set on the banks of the Han River and is criss-crossed with shady walking and cycling trails. Get up close with rainbow-coloured insects in the butterfly garden and meet the friendly deer that live in the park.
Cheonggyecheon Stream flows past Songjeong-dong and is one of the most beautiful public recreation spaces in the city. While it was once a polluted waterway, it’s been transformed into a lush green space fringed by spacious waterside walkways and leafy trees. It’s a great place to stretch your legs and enjoy the lively atmosphere. Learn more about the award-winning urban renewal project at the Cheonggyecheon Museum.
