Escape to the Black Sea and enjoy a sun-drenched getaway in Neptun. Set on the Romanian Riviera, the resort is a hotspot for Balkan holidaymakers. Bask on honey-coloured sand, sip cocktails at beach bars and enjoy fresh seafood. Rides, attractions and miniature theme parks create a family-friendly atmosphere.
Things to do in Neptun
Top up your tan on Plaja La Steaguri, a long stretch of sand dotted with thatch-roof umbrellas. Rent a sun lounger or roll out your towel on the sand. The water is calm, clear and a lovely shade of turquoise. Beach bars spill onto the sand and serve cold drinks and delicious seafood. Try local specialties like “saramura” fish cooked in rich broth, pan-fried cod sprinkled with dill and “ciorba de peste” sour fish soup.
Activities like mini golf will keep you entertained off the beach. Race down colourful slides at the family-friendly water park and take a spin on the Ferris wheel overlooking the lagoon. Paradis Land, an action-packed adventure park, will test your nerve with rope swings, ziplines and climbing walls.
Pull up a chair at a beach bar and enjoy the beautiful Black Sea sunsets. Order ice-cold Timisoreana lager or sip a glass of “tuica” plum brandy, a Romanian specialty. Catch the latest Hollywood blockbusters at the open-air cinema.
Neptun is one of several evocatively named resorts strung along the coast, including Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. All are great day trips if you’re looking for a change of scene. The latter has great beach clubs, complete with seafront pools, music and cocktails on demand.
