Things to do in Nemours
Chateau de Nemours enjoys a picturesque setting on the banks of the Loing. It looks like a scene from a French storybook and features round turrets and a square-shaped watchtower. The chateau is reimagined as a museum with exhibits on the unique history of the castle. Guided tours take you into the gloomy dungeons. Cross Grand Pont de la Fraternité to the other side of the river for postcard-perfect views of the chateau.
Discover the town’s ancient past at Musée de Préhistoire d’Ile-de-France. The museum is set in a sun-dappled forest and housed in a modern building designed by famous French architect, Roland Simounet. Exhibits explore the town’s Gallo-Roman roots and feature artefacts dated to the 1st century BCE. See fossils of woolly mammoths that roamed France during the Palaeolithic period and weapons, tools and jewellery forged in the Bronze Age.
