Things to do in Villepinte
Parc des Expositions de Villepinte opened in 1982 and is one of the largest convention centres in France. It occupies an enormous 115-hectare footprint and hosts corporate conventions, public exhibitions and other large-scale events.
Parc du Sausset is a green oasis in the heart of Paris. Scenic trails wind through the 80-hectare park and take you through sun-dappled woodlands and flower-filled meadows. Enjoy a picnic on the grass and spot more than 80 species of birds, including the grey heron, great spotted woodpecker and Eurasian wren. In the southern corner of the neighbourhood is Parc Forestier de la Poudrerie, a former industrial site that’s been reimagined as a tree-filled park.
The train ride between Villepinte and Central Paris takes under 30 minutes, making the neighbourhood an excellent base for exploring the capital. Visit big-ticket sights like the Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysées and the Louvre Museum.
Just north of Villepinte is Parc Astérix, a family-friendly theme park inspired by the famous French comic book series. On par with Disneyland Paris, the park is filled with stomach-flipping rollercoasters and exhilarating thrill rides. You’ll also find plenty of rides suitable for younger kids, including carousels, bumper cars and live shows starring your favourite Astérix characters.
Getting around Villepinte
Villepinte is pedestrian-friendly and easy to get around on foot, while local buses are also a fast and affordable option. Trains run between Villepinte and Central Paris in under 30 minutes. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport is a five-minute drive away.
