Experience one of Australia’s most incredible open-range zoos at the 1,500-hectare Monarto Zoo, where you can explore various global habitats, including the Asian steppes, northern Africa and the Asian grasslands. After first opening in 1983, Monarto Zoo is now home to more than 500 animals from around the world.
Explore the Monarto Zoo to get up close to a range of animals, including African lions, cheetahs, meerkats, yellow-footed rock wallabies and Tasmanian devils. You can also opt for a one-of-a-kind animal experience to see your favourite creature even closer, such as the Lions 360 package, Meerkat Mingle and Giraffe Safari.
Don’t forget about the unique Meet the Keeper experience, which lets you visit a specific animal, such as a chimpanzee or white rhino, with a knowledgeable zookeeper. Alternatively, take the rare opportunity to experience a day in the life of a keeper during the Keeper for a Day program or go behind the scenes while meeting a southern white rhino or black rhino.
Getting there
The Monarto Zoo is just under one hour’s drive from Adelaide, where you can fly into Adelaide Airport. You can also use the LinkSA bus services from Adelaide to Monarto Zoo between Monday and Friday. There is ample on-site parking.
