Overlooking a sparkling bay on the Costa Dorada, Miami Platja is a resort town south of Tarragona. It is fringed by picturesque sand and shingle beaches while it’s also backed by dramatic cliffs and the spectacular pine forests of the Reserva Natural Llaberia.
Stretching along the length of Miami Platja are a series of golden beaches lapped by the warm waters of the Balearic Sea. Outside of the summer months, you can stroll along the palm-lined promenade or dine at one of the waterfront restaurants, such as Pasadera Casablanca and Calma Playa Cristal.
A network of hiking trails winds through the Reserva Natural Llaberia, a rugged nature reserve that offers magnificent views across the Costa Dorada. Trek to the crumbling ruins of Castell de la Mola or visit the hilltop hermitage of Mare de Deu de la Roca, which is associated with the legend of a Moorish king.
Getting there
Miami Platja is around 30 minutes’ drive from the centre of Tarragona and Reus Airport, which has seasonal flights to destinations across Europe. Buses travel to Miami Platja and the town is small enough to explore on foot. Renting a car is the most convenient way of exploring the region.
