About Joshua Tree

Surrounded by the Mojave Desert, Joshua Tree is a small town in the High Desert region of California. It lies on the edge of Joshua Tree National Park, which is famed for its lunar-like landscapes and unique trees that resemble something from a Dr. Seuss book.

Things to do in Joshua Tree

In the heart of Joshua Tree is the World Famous Crochet Museum where you’ll find a colourful collection of crocheted animals curated by Shari Elf. Its drive-thru photo stand forms part of an eclectic array of art stores and boutiques. You can browse the homewares at the Joshua Tree Blanket Co. or grab a bite to eat at the Joshua Tree Saloon.

The town of Joshua Tree is a base for exploring its namesake national park where you’ll find twisted trees, rugged rock formations and desert landscapes. Begin at the Joshua Tree Visitor Center to learn about the area’s flora and fauna or pick up a map of the national park’s hiking trails. Guided treks are also on offer with knowledgeable local naturalists.

For a short walk, hit the Hidden Valley Nature Trail, which winds its way through a bowl that was once used by cattle rustlers. From Keys View, there are sweeping views across the Coachella Valley, all the way to Palm Springs and the Salton Sea.
