Things to do in Domburg
Golden sand and crystal-clear water make Domburg one of the best beaches in the Netherlands. Relax on the sand and make a splash with water sports like kayaking and stand up paddleboarding. Stroll along the beach to admire pastel-coloured beach huts.
One of the only links courses in Europe, Domburgsche Golf Course has been welcoming players since 1914. The course meanders over grass-covered dunes and treats you to spectacular views of the North Sea. While there are only nine holes to play, Domburgsche will challenge you with its rolling terrain and strong sea breezes.
Renting a bike is one of the best ways to enjoy Domburg. The Mantelingen bicycle loop stretches for 35 kilometres and takes you past picturesque beaches, rolling farmland and charming villages like Veere. Stop for coffee and cake at one of the atmospheric cafes.
Domburg has been captivating artists for more than a century, including heavyweights like Piet Mondriaan. The Marie Tak van Poortvliet Museum showcases works by Neo-Impressionist masters such as Jo Koster, as well as contemporary artists. The collection at Galerie Het Noorderlicht spotlights iconic Dutch painters like Jan Toorop, Ferdinand Hart Nibbrig and Isaac Israels.
Getting around Domburg
Domburg is pedestrian-friendly and easy to get around on foot. The town is a 1.5-hour drive from The Hague and two hours from Amsterdam. Trains run between Amsterdam and Middelburg in three hours. From here, it’s a 20-minute drive or bus ride to Domburg. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is a two-hour drive away.
