Things to do in Cadzand-Bad
Spend the day swimming, sunbathing and building sandcastles at Cadzand-Bad Beach. As you stroll along the beach, keep an eye out for fossilised shells and shark teeth, which are often found buried in the sand. Sailing, surfing and kiteboarding are just some of the water sports on offer. For a change of scenery, day-trip to nearby beaches such as Nieuwvliet-Bad and Groede.
Local restaurants line the beach and serve delicious local cuisine from the Zeeland region. Seafood is a specialty, with most menus featuring oysters, mussels and lobster caught in the North Sea. For breakfast, enjoy buttery danishes, hand-pressed apple juice and toast with preserves made from local berries.
Het Zwin nature reserve is a short drive from the village and protects a unique coastal ecosystem. The reserve stretches down to Belgium and is a haven for local birds, including white storks, black-headed gulls, European turtle doves and nightingales. The picturesque village of Cadzand dates to medieval times and is a popular base for visiting Cadzand-Bad. It’s a few kilometres inland on the Belgian border and is heavily influenced by its neighbour, with many restaurants serving Belgian waffles and Flemish ales.
Getting around Cadzand-Bad
Cadzand-Bad is pedestrian-friendly and easy to get around on foot. The resort is located in the province of Zeeland, a two-hour drive from Rotterdam and three hours from Amsterdam. Rental cars are a good way to explore Cadzand-Bad at your own pace. Antwerp is a 1.5-hour drive across the border.
