Once famed as the “Lemon Capital of the World”, Corona is a leafy city in California’s Riverside County. It’s home to an ethnically diverse population, an abundance of parks and recreational facilities, as well as the company headquarters of Fender Musical Instruments and Saleen Automotive.
Things to do in Corona
Delve into the local history at the Corona Heritage Park & Museum, an open-air complex located on what was once the largest lemon ranch in California. Stroll between the vintage buildings that include Hampton House and browse the vintage homewares, period costumes and rural artefacts on display. The Corona Heritage Park also features an arts colony where classes and events are regularly held.
Travelling with kids? They’ll love spending a day at Tom’s Farms, which was originally founded in 1971 as a fresh produce stand. It has since grown to include a small zoo, family-friendly rides and a furniture store, as well as several restaurants. Hunt for fossils at Tom’s Mining Company, enjoy a ride on the vintage steam train or test your skills in the Shooting Gallery. Live music and magic shows are also presented on weekends.
Corona makes an ideal base for visiting the Black Star Canyon Indian Village Historic Site, which lies within the rugged Santa Ana Mountains. The canyon is a popular destination for hiking and mountain biking and is believed by some to be haunted due to the skirmishes that took place here in the 19th century.
