Nestled beneath the Massif des Maures, Cogolin is a traditional Provençal village situated just inland from the Golfe de Saint-Tropez. A centuries-old clock tower is all that remains from its medieval fortifications, which included a castle, residential houses and a stately home. Today, Cogolin is an ideal base for exploring the family-friendly attractions and beaches of the French Riviera.
Things to do in Cogolin
Dominating Cogolin’s townscape is the Tour de l'Horloge, the tower from a 14th-century hilltop castle destroyed during the Religious Wars. Built from basalt stone, it was one of the main entrances to the town and once incorporated a footbridge crossing Cogolin’s surrounding moat. The bell that once rung out from the tower is now housed within the parish church while its clock adorns the facade of the town hall.
Travelling with kids? They can run around in the playground of Parc Marceau, which hosts live music events in the summer months. Continue walking south and you’ll reach Cogolin’s skatepark, where beginners and advanced skaters can test their skills. The skatepark is located alongside a shopping centre with a supermarket, sporting goods and appliance stores.
Just a stone’s throw from the Golfe de Saint-Tropez is Azur Park, a family-friendly amusement park with thrilling roller coasters, a Ferris wheel and a prehistoric-themed miniature golf course. The park comes to life after dark when it is magically illuminated.
