The Chihshang Township produces some of the best rice in the world. One of the best ways to explore the picturesque countryside is on a bike tour. Also known as "Green Paradise Road", Brown Boulevard is one of the most scenic bike paths, winding through the rice paddies and treating cyclists to stunning mountain views.
Chihshang Township is dotted with beautiful sites like Dapo Pond, a freshwater lake surrounded by scenic bike paths and walking trails. It's also a popular spot for fishing and birdwatching, or you can pack a picnic and enjoy lunch in one of the lakeside pavilions.
Chihshang Township’s world-renowned rice has a sweet, slightly chewy texture and was once used as a gift for the Japanese emperor. Today the Wu Tao Chihshang Lunchbox Museum offers a fascinating glimpse at the production process, from paddy to plate. The highlight is sampling traditional rice meals in the converted train carriage.

Chihshang Township is small and easy to get around on foot or by riding bicycles. You can also get around on local buses. Flights arrive at Taitung Airport, located a one-hour drive from Chihshang.
