Located on the doorstep of Midway International Airport, Bridgeview is a crossroad village south-west of Chicago. It’s home to residential, commercial and industrial areas and has long attracted migrant communities. In the 1870s, it was settled by Italian and German farmers and is now a community hub for Chicago’s Middle Eastern residents.
North of Bridgeview is SeatGeek Stadium, which can host 20,000 spectators during soccer games of the Chicago Red Stars and Chicago House AC. It also provides the setting for concerts by big-name musical artists, with the Dave Matthew Band, Kelly Clarkson and Bob Dylan all having played here.
Bridgeview is home to large Palestinian and Jordanian communities, with the minaret-topped Mosque Foundation serving as their cultural heart. Ethnic grocery stores, hookah lounges and Middle Eastern sweet shops line Harlem Avenue. Running north to south through Bridgeview, this bustling thoroughfare also passes the leafy green space of Millette Memorial Park.
