Located partway between Al Khobar and Dammam, Al Khobar Al Shamalia is a largely residential suburb overlooking the Persian Gulf. Al Khobar was founded in the 1920s by the Dawasir, a Bedouin tribal confederation that feared persecution by the British. It’s traditionally been a district of shopkeepers and merchants, with Al Khobar Al Shamalia’s shopping malls a legacy of this today.
