Things to do in Xiluo Township
Strings of cherry-red paper lanterns hang over the main courtyard of Xiluo Fuxing Temple. The complex is one of the most important Chinese temples in the township and features colourful plasterwork and ornate swallowtail roofs.
Yanping Old Street is lined with handsome colonial buildings and shophouses, many decorated with colourful paper lanterns. The street is dotted with food stalls where you can try delicious local snacks like “ba wan” Taiwanese meatballs, “xiao long bao” dumpling soup, oyster omelettes and crispy fried chicken. After dark, the Dongnan Night Market comes alive with sizzling street food stalls. Don’t leave without trying tasty “douhua” tofu pudding.
Guided tours of the Wuan Chuang Soy Sauce Factory offer a glimpse of how the popular sauce is made. You can learn about the fermentation process, as well as how soy sauce is bottled and packaged. Pick up a bottle or two from the gift shop on your way out.

Xiluo Township is located in Yunlin County, a one-hour drive from Taichung City. Taichung International Airport is a one-hour drive away.
