About Tyndrum

The tiny village of Tyndrum enjoys a dramatic setting in the Scottish Highlands. An important staging post since medieval times, the village is a popular base for hiking, cycling and hillwalking in the countryside. The village centre offers everything you need, including an excellent selection of cosy cafes, pubs and B&Bs.

The famous West Highland Way meanders past the village and is a great way to explore the countryside. In the town centre, the family-friendly Tyndrum Gruffalo Trail is dotted with adorable carved wooden statues inspired by the beloved children’s book.

Ben Lui towers more than 1,100 metres over the countryside and is one of the most beautiful peaks in the Highlands. From the summit, you can enjoy sweeping views over the surrounding mountains, lochs and rivers. After a day on your feet, return to the village for a hearty meal of haggis, neeps and tatties at a local pub.

Getting there

Tyndrum is compact and easy to get around on foot, while rental cars offer the freedom to explore the Highlands at your own pace. The village is serviced by two train stations, Tyndrum Lower on the Oban Line and Tyndrum Upper on the Fort William Line. Glasgow Airport is a one-hour drive away.
