With a rich history dating back to the Kingdom of Strathclyde, Hamilton lies along the banks of the River Clyde to the south-east of Glasgow. It was originally known as “Cadzow” before being renamed after James Hamilton, a 15th-century Scottish nobleman and politician. Hamilton was once home to the explorer and missionary David Livingstone, whose house still stands today.
