Located at the junction of the Ury and Don rivers, Inverurie is a historic market town in Aberdeenshire. A motte-and-bailey castle was established here in the 12th century and the town has hosted three major battles since, including a 1745 clash during the Jacobite Rebellion.

Occupying a former Inverurie Locomotive Works building is the Garioch Heritage Centre, which explores the social and working life of Inverurie throughout the centuries. Browse the objects from Tait’s Paper Mill on display, alongside a scale model of the Inverurie Locomotive Works during its heyday. In addition to a 20-ton crane, the complex includes a gift shop and a cafe serving light meals and snacks.
Travelling with kids? They'll love jumping aboard at the Skyline Trampoline Park, which encompasses more than 2,500 square metres of recreational space. Not only are there around 50 interconnected trampolines but also a dodgeball court, basketball hoops and foam pits. You can test your balance on the slackline, scale the climbing wall or rise to the challenge of the battle beam.
A short drive west of Inverurie is the Easter Aquhorthies Stone Circle, which is one of the best-preserved recumbent stone circles in Scotland. It is believed to have been created around 4,000 years ago, perhaps for ritualistic purposes related to death. While many of the stones are rough-grained porphyry, the recumbent stone is red granite that was quarried in nearby Bennachie.
