A bustling area full of attractions, Tianhe is a district in Guangzhou that translates to “a river in the sky”, which is also a Chinese name for the Milky Way. Visit the city’s most iconic tower, explore a family-friendly amusement park or trek up Baiyun Mountain.
Things to do in Tianhe
Admire Canton Tower, considered the landmark of Guangzhou. Rising up almost 600 meters, the tower is illuminated at night with colorful lights. Explore the coffee shops and restaurants at its base and visit the observation deck for spectacular city views.
Escape the city bustle at Shamian Island, 13 kilometers from Tianhe district. The picture-perfect area is known for its alluring collection of bronze statues, lush greenery, and ancient architecture. Stroll along its wide boulevards and dine at its quaint cafes, bars, and restaurants.

For some of the best views of the city, head to Baiyun Mountain. To get to the top you have two options: a leisurely cruise on a cable car or a scenic hike. At the peak, you can marvel at the beautiful views of Guangzhou’s city skyline and its skyscrapers.
