One of China’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning, Fudan University in Shanghai is the base for over 45,000 students. Fudan University boasts four campuses in downtown Shanghai, including Handan, Jiangwan, Fenglin and Zhangjiang.
Fudan’s alumni include China’s richest CEOs, top medical experts, professors at Ivy League colleges in the United States, prominent politicians and even China’s current vice president Li Yuanchao. Visitors can contact the Qingyun Visitor Centre to arrange a tour of campus or learn about the institution at the University History Museum or the Shanghai Medical University History Museum.
Shuttle buses connect the four campuses of Fudan University. The nearest subway station is Wujiaochang, while Guoquan Road is also within walking distance. Travel from the Bund via the subway takes just under an hour. Driving from the Bund would take less than 30 minutes.
Founded in 1905, Fudan University has survived the Japanese invasion in the 1930s, the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 1970s Cultural Revolution. Over the years, it has transformed between public and private status but has always maintained high academic standards. It is counted among the top 100 universities in the world.
