Vast underground cave networks and exhilarating rock-climbing routes make Suncuius a rewarding destination for adventure seekers. The region is famous for its limestone caves, which you can explore independently or on guided tours.
Vadu Crişului Cave is one of the most popular, with a series of walkways, steps and ladders making it easy to navigate. You’ll be amazed by the jagged stalactites and otherworldly rock formations. A stream flows through the cave and creates a cascading waterfall. Cathedral-like Cave Unguru Mare features a 20-metre-high ceiling and is accessed by a suspension bridge.
Suncuius is one of the top rock-climbing destinations in Romania, with options for every fitness level. Get your pulse racing on vertical rock walls or take things slow on a beginner-friendly route. Via ferrata, a style of assisted rock climbing that uses fixed anchors and steel cables, is a great option for inexperienced climbers. There are also beautiful hiking trails around Suncuius if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground.
