Set in the snow-capped Jamtland mountains, Storlien is a premier ski resort with nine lifts and 23 downhill runs. It's the ski resort of choice for the Swedish royal family and boasts bluebird skies and lashings of powder. After a day on the slopes, enjoy mulled wine and hot apple cider at Le Ski, a cosy pub in the village centre.
In addition to alpine skiing, Storlien is laced with cross-country skiing and snowmobile trails. In summer, the resort transforms into a sun-drenched outdoor playground with scenic hiking and mountain biking trails. There's also excellent fly fishing for grayling, white fish and brown trout.
Known as the Edible Country, Jamtland is a fantastic place to experience authentic Swedish cuisine. Sample local specialties, such as artisan cheese from local dairy farms, mushrooms foraged from the surrounding forests and beer spiced with cinnamon, orange peel, cloves and vanilla.
