Incorporated as a township in 1798, South Brunswick is a historic New Jersey settlement that is now an outer-ring suburb of New York City. It’s a predominantly residential area, with an abundance of leafy parks and reserves, as well as lakes that are popular with boaters and anglers.

For a fun day out with the family, head to the Giamarese Farm & Orchards, which has been in operation since 1941. Centred around McCormack Lake is the Plainsboro Preserve, which encompasses more than 400 hectares of undisturbed greenery traversed by scenic nature trails. Begin your visit at the Rush Holt Environmental Education Center, where you’ll find exhibits detailing the area’s ecology and some of the rare and endangered species that are found here.

South Brunswick is around 45 minutes’ drive from Newark and Newark Liberty International Airport, which has flights to destinations across the globe. Regular buses connect to South Brunswick from Newark and New York City and travel throughout the township. Renting a car is the most convenient way of exploring South Brunswick.
