Explore the bird-filled wetlands and dunes of the South Cape May Meadows Nature Preserve, just south of Wildwood Crest. Rare species, such as buff-breasted sandpipers, Arctic terns and black-necked stilts, are often sighted here.
Stroll through the historic streets of neighbouring Wildwood to see eclectic 1950s and 60s architecture reflecting the era’s popular “Doo Wop” style. Feast on burgers and shakes in one of the mid-century diners and admire the bright neon lights and futuristic elements that help preserve the ambience of this classic American beach town.
Wildwood Crest is a stone’s throw away from the historic amusement park of Morey’s Piers, which is set across three piers and two water parks on Wildwood’s boardwalk. It boasts a simulated surf machine, a Grand Prix Raceway and the tallest Ferris wheel on the East Coast, which offers superb views from the top.
Photograph an unforgettable sunset at the aptly-named Sunset Lake, which stretches along the western edge of Wildwood Crest. Follow one of the picturesque walking trails that line the lake’s shore, where memorials honouring war veterans dot the surrounding parklands.
