Things to do in Shoufeng Township
One of Taiwan’s most picturesque national parks, Taroko National Park is an hour’s drive north of the city and packed with natural flora and fauna. Spend a day hiking across suspension bridges, past cascading waterfalls and along winding paths in this beautiful protected area.
The Lichuan Fish Market, located in the city centre, is a great family attraction where you can feed giant fish right from your hands before collecting gold clams from the fish farm. After learning about the local area’s fishing industry, head to nearby restaurants to dine on fresh seafood.
30 minutes north of the township sits Liyu Lake, a local carp fishing lake. Outdoor lovers can spend a morning here sailing across the lake or hiking around it by following the winding footpaths. There’s plenty of picturesque bike trails too for those on two wheels.
Just 20 minutes north of ShoufengTownship sits the East Rift Valley National Scenic Area. This coastal stretch is located between two mountain ranges and is home to scenic walking trails, lush jungle, Antong springs and ocean views.
Getting around Shoufeng Township
Hualien Airport sits 40 minutes north of the township with trains running into the district regularly. Inside the city centre, you can make use of public buses, taxis or hire a car to explore the surrounding national parks and other attractions.
