Things to do in Ji'an Township
A former site for Japanese fighter pilots, the 11-hectare Zhikaxuan Forest Park is a family-friendly theme park with a fairy-tale ambience. Take the kids through the spectacular floral maze and on to the castle, playground and numerous squares filled with fanciful dragonfly statues and caricatures from storybooks. You can also drive about 20 minutes to enjoy water rides and dolphin shows and pirate adventures at Farglory Ocean Park in Shoufeng.
Visit Aowanda National Forest Recreation Area to view cascading waterfalls, fragrant pine groves and the spellbinding maple forest. Cycling and jogging trails crisscross the area.
A popular year-round attraction, Dongdamen Night Market is constantly bustling with activity. Browse street stalls selling Taiwanese specialties in separate market districts. You can try Chinese and indigenous dishes while enjoying local musicians and street performers.
Connected to Hualien City, life and culture in Ji’an blends with attractions in the larger city. Visit the Holy Temple on Jinfeng Street to admire intricately carved statues and rooftops dragons, then cross the bridge to pay respects to legendary heroes at the Martyrs Shrine.
Getting around Ji'an Township
You can rent a car at Hualien Airport in Xincheng Township, about 20 minutes’ drive from Ji’an Township. Taxis and local buses offer transportation around the township and to smaller villages.
