The largest tourist attraction made by man in the city, Farglory Ocean Park is a theme park in Hualien City, Taiwan, which makes up a beautiful area of the East Coast and invites tourists to relax and share in a fun and stunning experience. It is the largest ocean recreation park in the city and orientates itself around marine ecology, combining underwater life with rollercoasters and amusement rides. Only 10 kilometres from the city centre, it is a world of its own, divided into sections celebrating different aspects of the ocean through shows, rides, entertainment and a general addictive atmosphere of fun.
The eight themed sections of Farglory Ocean Park include Dolphin Lagoon, where visitors can watch live performances of the animals, Underwater Kingdom, which offers education information about marine life, Main Street, Harbour Square and Discovery Island. The park is full of amusements such as bumper boats, water rides and roller coasters and there are regular informational talks, educational workshops and performances like the popular sea lion show. For visitors driving to Farglory Ocean Park, Highway 11 is a direct route from the city, and there is parking for both cars and bikes.Alternatively, there is a straight bus service from Hualien Train Station to the area. The local train station connects to other major cities, such as Taipei around three hours away, or Taichung, an hour journey from the park.
Opening in December 2002, the construction of Farglory Ocean Park was a multi-million dollar project spread over ten years and requires more than 60 professional teams from throughout the world for planning and building. The result was a globally praised amusement park, celebrated for its 19th Century British pier design and marine carnival style, combining the themes of over 300 international parks and taking the best of each.
