Modern and recently redeveloped, Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport has established itself as a major hub for visiting the Pearl River Delta. Located 32 kilometres from Shenzhen centre, near the village of Fuyong, the airport is ideally placed for business and leisure destinations in Guangdong province. Departing from the single terminal is a huge network of domestic flights, along with a growing number of international flight routes.
The airport was formerly known as Shenzhen Huangtian but was renamed on completion of the new terminal. This single terminal covers almost 500,000 square metres and is split across four floors. Departures are situated in the western wing with arriving passengers touching down on the east wing. All parts of the terminal are connected by covered walkways, which connect to the Ground Transportation Centre and the airport's main entrance.
Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport is located on the Shenzhen Metro, and a journey to the city centre will take less than one hour. The metro station is situated underground, with local and national bus services found on the first floor. Taxis and Shenzhen express buses depart from the second floor of the Ground Transportation Centre.
Uniquely, passengers can touch down at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and not officially enter China. A ferry service connects the airport with Hong Kong International Airport, located just across the bay. Passengers bypass immigration and customs and instead using the facilities in Hong Kong.
