Overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, Sari-Solenzara is a laid-back coastal town that sprawls across the rugged mountains of Corsica’s south-east. It comprises the seaside village of Solenzara and the hilltop settlement of Sari, together with the charming hamlets of Togna, Canella and Favona.
In the mountainous interior of Sari-Solenzara is the Monastere Notre-Dame de l'Assunta Gloriosa, a whitewashed, modern convent home to the Sisters of Bethlehem. Coincide your visit with a service in the harmonious chapel and tour the workshops to see the earthenware and essential oils produced on site.
Also nearby is the Canyon of Purcaraccia, a series of cascades and sculpted rock pools filled with crystal clear water. On Sari-Solenzara’s coastline is the Plage de Canella, a picture-perfect crescent of sand renowned for its snorkelling. The dramatic cliffs backing the beach are popular with rock climbers.
