About Robin Hood's Bay

Forming part of North York Moors National Park, Robin Hood’s Bay is a charming fishing village near Whitby. It’s home to engaging museums that bring its maritime history to life and is the end point of the 293-kilometre Coast to Coast walk envisioned by Alfred Wainwright.

One of Robin Hood Bay’s most prominent landmarks is the Old Coastguard Station, which is operated by the National Trust. It was recently rebuilt according to its 19th-century design and houses an education centre for North York Moors National Park. Get hands-on in the rock pool tank and discover the fascinating human history of the coastline.

You can learn about the fishing and shipping industries that have shaped the village at the Robin Hood's Bay Museum, which occupies the old Coroner’s Room and Mortuary. See artefacts from the last lifeboat to be stationed in the village and learn about the contraband that was once smuggled here.
