Considered one of the most innovative buildings in Scandinavia, the Oslo Opera House resembles an iceberg emerging from the waters of Oslofjord. A Norwegian architectural firm that believed the opera house should be an extension of nature conceived the striking masterpiece.
While the venue is a wonderful place to see the National Norwegian Opera and Ballet, the most unique feature of the Oslo Opera House is its marble roof, which doubles as an outdoor amphitheater and observation deck. Score tickets to a concert under the stars and tackle the sloping roof for an impressive view of Oslo’s city center.
To fully appreciate the building’s interior, take a guided tour featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the astonishingly complex stage, the set-design workshop, and main auditorium. Catch a glimpse of life backstage while discovering the symbolism behind the architecture, including the magnificent central chandelier, which represents a full moon.
