Nevez is a picturesque town and gateway to sun-drenched Southern Brittany. Stone-walled houses and thatch-roof cottages give the Nevez all the charm of a traditional Breton village. Bask on white-sand beaches, stroll around flower-filled coastal hamlets and savour some of the freshest seafood in France.
Things to do in Nevez
Stroll around the postcard-perfect hamlets of Kerascoët and Kercanic, both set on the sparkling Bay of Biscay. Handsome granite cottages decorated with sky-blue window shutters and colourful hydrangeas will have you reaching for your camera. A handful of cottages are reimagined as charming cafes, patisseries and creperies run by local entrepreneurs.
Bask in the Breton sunshine on Plage de Tahiti. The sugar-white sand and turquoise water are reminiscent of French Polynesia. Anse de Rospico features a sandy beach framed by rocky cliffs. At low tide, the beach at Plage de Raguenes is dotted with crystalline rock pools.
Enjoy a scenic boat trip along the Aven River, which snakes through the Breton countryside before emptying into the Bay of Biscay. As you cruise along the waterway, you’ll pass rolling farmland and chocolate-box villages.
Brittany is renowned for fresh seafood and Nevez is no exception. Dine at atmospheric bistros and enjoy specialty dishes like “cotriade” fish stew and “moules marinieres” mussels cooked in white wine. Seafood platters come piled high with oysters, clams, scallops, prawns and crab. Pair your meal with a crisp glass of Breton cider or a bottle of Muscadet wine, famous for its citrus aromas and salty finish.
