Comprising two neighbouring villages, Nago-Torbole is a charming settlement on the northern shore of Lake Garda. Nago clings to the limestone rocks on the slope of Monte Baldo while Torbole clusters around a sparkling bay at the mouth of the River Sarca.
Things to do in Nago–Torbole
Stroll through the quiet streets of Nago, which centres around the 16th-century San Vigilio Church. You can marvel at the Austro-Hungarian fort of Nago while soaking up the sweeping views across Parco del Castel Penede towards the waters of Lake Garda. Follow the hairpin bends that lead down to Torbole, with the road marked by sunken glacial wells that are known as the Marmitte dei Giganti.
With its waterfront setting and favourable wind conditions at the northern end of Lake Garda, Torbole is a popular destination for windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing. Prefer to stay on land? You can go mountain biking through the rugged surrounds or join one of the local operators for an exhilarating canyoning expedition.
Hikers can explore along the Busatte-Tempesta Sentiero Panoramico, which follows the eastern shore of Lake Garda at the foot of Mount Baldo. Several metal staircases traverse its rocky terrain while offering incredible views across the lake towards the villages of Riva and Torbole. On return to Torbole, treat yourself with ice cream from one of the numerous gelaterias that dot the village.
