About Malakoff

Bordering the 14th arrondissement, Malakoff is a suburban commune in the south-west of Paris. It forms part of the Hauts-de-Seine department, which hugs the River Seine to the west of the French capital. Malakoff was named after a local inn, which was titled in 1855 to commemorate the Crimean War’s Battle of Malakoff.

South of Malakoff is the Fort de Vanves, which was rebuilt after being heavily damaged during the 1870 Siege of Paris. It played an important role in protecting Paris from attack during the late 19th century before housing the Central Pharmacy from 1931 to 1973. The Fort de Vanves lies alongside the children’s playground and lakeside trails of Parc Leon Salagnac.

Malakoff is also home to the Espace Clacquesin, a historic distillery that is preserved as a monument of industrial heritage. Its period stills and outdoor chimney serve as a backdrop for events, trade shows and conventions. In the surrounding streets are globally inspired restaurants serving Tunisian, Japanese and Mexican cuisine.

On the edge of Malakoff is the Centre Sportif Jules Noël, which is named after the French athlete who competed at the 1932 and 1936 Summer Olympics. It encompasses an athletics track with seven running lanes, triple jump pits and a shot put area, as well as a soccer field, a skate park and a multi-sports fitness centre with a boxing gym.
