Grande Dune du Pilat towers over the coastline and is one of the tallest sand dunes in Europe. More than one million visitors per year visit the 106-metre tall dune to take in sweeping views over the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding pine forest.
Marooned in Arcachon Bay, Ile aux Oiseaux is a pristine island home to more than 150 species of birds. Guided boat tours depart from Arcachon and whisk you to Ile aux Oiseaux, where you can spot thousands of nesting birds. You’ll also get to see the famous wooden stilt houses that dot the bay.
La Teste-de-Buch is peppered with restaurants and bistros where you can enjoy cuisine from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Specialities include foie gras and “poulet Basquaise” served with red peppers and olives. Pair your meal with a glass of Semillon.
