Things to do in Kuwait City
One of the country’s most iconic landmarks, Kuwait Towers has been standing tall since 1979. The largest of the three towers is over 180 metres tall and houses a revolving observation deck that offers sweeping views over the city. Enjoy a drink at the restaurant or pick up a souvenir at the on-site gift store.
From floor-to-ceiling shark tanks to a colourful living reef, the Scientific Centre boasts a fascinating aquarium. You can admire shoals of black-spotted sweetlips, check out giant spider crabs and be mesmerised by fluorescent jellyfish. It also features an IMAX cinema that screens ocean-themed films.
At the Kuwait City Souq you'll find everything from hand-loomed clothing to antique silverware. It sits in the heart of the city and offers a hands-on glimpse at Kuwait's market town roots. Souq Marbarakia is also worth a visit, with vendors hawking olives, dates, oxtails and sweets.
Showcasing ethnographic finds from across the Middle East, the Tareq Rajab Museum is one of Kuwait's top cultural attractions. Inside you'll find bejewelled musical instruments, Omani jewellery, Saudi headdresses, Mongol helmets, ancient prayer mats and Bahraini pearls.
Getting around Kuwait City
Kuwait City is serviced by a network of buses and taxis. From the city centre, the drive to Kuwait International Airport takes around 20 minutes.
