As the name might suggest, Johor Bahru City Square is central to the Malaysian city of Johor Bahru. This towering collection of offices and shops draws many visitors from Singapore and other countries around the world.
Five of Johor Bahru City Square’s seven storeys are devoted to retail space with anchor tenants including Popular, Uniqlo and H&M. Neway Karaoke and Cathay Cineplex provide ample entertainment. One level of the mall features a pond and outdoor garden. When it’s time to break for sustenance, patrons can grab a bite at Sakae Sushi or pick up ingredients for a home-cooked meal at Kapitan Grocer.
Directly adjacent to the JB Sentral train station, Johor Bahru City Square is easily accessible from other parts of the city, as the KTM rail line is available at the station. There is parking available onsite, but those driving to the shopping centre will have to brave the busy Jalan Wong Ah Fook roadway, one of Johor Bahru’s main arteries.
Johor Bahru City Square’s high degree of Singaporean patronage owes to its location near the Johor-Singapore Causeway. The cities are less than an hour apart. In 2005, Johor Bahru even added a Singapore Visitor Centre to its complex.
