Jizan is a lively port city fringed by a breezy waterfront corniche, where you can experience an authentic taste of Saudi Arabian history and culture. You can visit an open-air heritage museum, climb up to a hilltop fortress and shop at bustling bazaars.
Things to do in Jazan
The Jizan Corniche hugs the Red Sea shoreline and is a fantastic place for a sunset stroll. It's lined with colourful stalls selling fresh fruit, seafood kebabs and ice-cold drinks. It stretches up to North Corniche Park, where you'll find a grassy foreshore, children's playgrounds and food trucks.
The beautifully designed Jazan Heritage Village offers a glimpse at life in Saudi Arabia. The open-air museum features traditional houses, mud huts and a recreated souq showcasing handmade pots and aromatic herbs. You can also admire Ghamari swords and daggers built by local craftsmen.
Perched high on a hilltop, Turks Castle dates back to the Ottoman Empire. It's flanked by four enormous watchtowers and commands sweeping views over the city and harbour. You can wander around the ruins of the ancient stronghold while learning more about this storied fortification.
Families flock to Awqat Saeeda Theme Park, one of the region's top all-ages attractions. It's set right on the waterfront and is filled with games and miniature rides. There's also an on-site restaurant with fantastic views of the Red Sea.
