Set on the Norfolk coast, Hunstanton is an upmarket seaside resort known for its striped cliffs and knockout sunsets. It was built in 1846 and has retained much of its Victorian elegance. The resort hums with activity in the summer, when you'll find sunseekers basking on the beach, teeing off at mini-golf courses and strolling around the public parks and gardens.
Things to do in Hunstanton
Hunstanton's biggest draw is its long sandy beach dotted with moss-covered rocks. It’s a fantastic place to build sandcastles, explore tide pools or simply relax with a good book. It's the only west-facing resort on the East Coast, so it boasts some of England's best sunsets.
Ramblers should explore the famous Norfolk Coast Path, which stretches for 100 kilometres from Hunstanton to Sea Palling. Along the way you'll be treated to some of Britain's most spectacular coastal scenery, including vast sandy beaches, soaring sea cliffs, tidal marshes, pine woodlands and even an ancient Roman road.
Perched high on the Norfolk cliffsides, Esplanade Gardens is Hunstanton's signature attraction. The breezy public space features manicured gardens, a challenging golf course and refreshment kiosks. You can also pick up a walking map and explore Hunstanton's self-guided Horticultural Trail.
Stroll 30 minutes up from the beach and you'll find yourself in Old Hunstanton. The characterful town is filled with old stone cottages that house British pubs, ice cream parlours and souvenir stalls.
