Things to do in Finestrat
Explore a maze of cobbled streets, stone staircases and sunny plazas in the Old Town. Pastel-coloured townhouses decorated with flower-filled window boxes and climbing bougainvillea line the streets. Walk up to the hilltop castle for beautiful views over the Costa Blanca and wander through beautiful gardens filled with rosemary, thyme and other Mediterranean herbs.
Spend the day in the nearby beach resort of Platja de La Cala de Finestrat. The beach features a strip of gold sand set on a sheltered cove. Swim in the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, bask in the sunshine and dine at waterfront restaurants.
Finestrat is a great base for walks in the Costa Blanca countryside. The popular Puig Campana Loop starts in the village and loops around the base of the mountain. Tackle the strenuous summit trail for breathtaking views over the Mediterranean Sea and surrounding countryside.
From streetside “terraza” restaurants to lively tapas bars, Finestrat is packed with places to enjoy traditional Alicante cuisine. “Arroz a banda” rice cooked in a flavourful fish stock is a local specialty. Other favourites include chicken paella cooked in a rich “salmorreta” sauce. Finish with a glass of “mistela” liqueur flavoured with aromatic herbs.
Getting around Finestrat
Finestrat is pedestrian-friendly and easy to get around on foot. Taxis are a fast and affordable way to travel between Finestrat and Platja de La Cala de Finestrat. The village is a 20-minute drive from Benidorm and 40 minutes from Alicante. Alicante Airport is a 45-minute drive away.
