Javea is a laid-back beach resort on the Costa Blanca, where you can bask on Blue Flag beaches, explore the atmospheric Old Town and devour freshly-caught seafood. Javea is also a great base for beach hopping along the Costa Blanca coast.
Things to do in Javea
It's hard to resist the charm of Javea's atmospheric Old Town with its labyrinth of winding streets, flower-strewn balconies and ancient buildings. Don't miss the 14th-century Church of St. Bartholomew, which is clad in golden sandstone and features soaring vaulted ceilings.
Sunseekers should make a beeline for El Arenal, Javea's beach zone. It's fringed with golden sand and the sparkling Mediterranean Sea. The Blue Flag beach is a great place to swim, sunbathe or enjoy water sports. You can also stroll along a breezy promenade lined with open-air cafes and restaurants.
Looking for some quality dining? El Puerto district is anchored by a flashy marina with waterfront seafood taverns. La Renda is a favourite, serving seafood paella and fresh lobster. Wash it down with a glass of local Spanish wine.
Break up days of sun and sand with a trip to Parc Natural del Montgo. Scenic hiking trails wind through the park and will take you past sea cliffs, hidden caves and natural harbours. Rising 753 metres high, the summit of Montgo Mountain offers panoramic views over the Costa Blanca.
Getting around Javea
Javea is easy to get around on foot, with the walk from the Old Town to the beach taking around 20 minutes. A rental car offers the freedom to explore the Costa Blanca at your own pace. Flights arrive at Valencia or Alicante, which are both around one hour from Javea.
