Popular with late-night clubbers, Benidorm has the feel of a party in full swing. The idyllic beaches and lively bars make it the perfect place for sun seekers, but it also has quiet corners in its charming old town and gorgeous hiking trails in the nearby hills.
Things to do in Benidorm
If you like a lively beach with plenty going on, head for Levante in the center of town, which has diving boards, rafts and slides out on the water, and is backed by shops and restaurants. Poniente has a more relaxed vibe, while Malpas is partly hidden by rocks, making it a great sunbathing spot away from the crowds.
Travelling with the family? Benidorm has plenty to keep the kids amused. Take a ride on one of Terra Mitica’s white-knuckle rollercoasters, try out the world’s highest capsule slide at Aqualandia or win a go-karting trophy at the track. In the evening, take a seat at the Benidorm Palace for an array of cabaret performances, magic shows and tribute acts or belt out a tune at one of the late-night karaoke bars.
For a change of pace, get lost in the narrow cobbled streets of the old town with its white houses and blue-domed church. If you prefer nature, head to the mountains of Marina Alta for tranquil hikes with gorgeous views of the ocean.
Getting around Benidorm
The nearest airport is Alicante, 60 kilometers away along the coast. Car rentals are available at the airport and there is a public bus, but the most convenient option is an airport transfer that drops you directly at your hotel. Central Benidorm is easy to get around on foot, with the main shopping and dining area only a stone’s throw from the beach.
