With a prime spot on the Murray River, Cobram thrives as part of Victoria’s renowned “food bowl”, hosting both culinary and wine tasting tours. Beaches, wetland sanctuaries and forests provide safe havens for wildlife and offer plenty of adventurous outdoor activities.
Things to do in Cobram
Along with its sister city of Barooga, Cobram is host to the Farm Gate Trail where you’ll find the heart of “gourmet country”. Visit award-winning wineries in the Wine Down Trail and pick up local stone fruit, strawberries, citrus and handmade cheeses direct from growers and producers.
Long stretches of sandy beaches line the riverfront, including Thompson’s Beach, cherished for its Beach Café, barbecue spots, beach volleyball and cricket games. You can also go fishing, boating and skiing or rent a canoe for paddling along Kings Billabong. Head over to Quinn Island Wetland Sanctuary for birdwatching and wildlife viewing, but save energy for hiking the Red River Gum and Silver Wattle Forest.
Delve into the region’s history with an Aboriginal river tour guide or climb aboard an authentic paddle steamer at sunset. Feel like extending your time on the water? Rent a houseboat and take an overnight glide along the coast.
Visit local arts venues, such as The Old Station Gallery, then play a round of golf at the Old and West courses of Cobram Barooga Golf Club. In the evening, enjoy Spanish and Indian fusion food at KU de 'TA Cobram, followed by drinks at The Top Pub.
