Hop aboard Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway for a thrilling ride on a narrow-gauge steam train, which runs between major attractions, such as the Leisure Centre and Boating Lake. At the lake, there’s a shipwreck adventure playground and paddling pool, as well as pedalos and rowboats for rent. Capture spectacular views of the sea from the nearby observatory at Cleethorpes Discovery Centre and stroll the dunes to spot migratory birds.
The Greenwich Meridian line runs right through Cleethorpes, where you can stand directly on the famous world marker. From there, make a beeline to Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre, a maritime museum that re-creates a 1950s sea voyage to local fishing grounds.
Enjoy breakfast at Hawaiian Eye Café on the promenade. You’ll find fish-and-chips kiosks along the seafront, in addition to ice-cream stands and small cafes. In the evening, enjoy live music, burgers, cocktails and craft beer at 0°North.
Getting around Cleethorpes
Buses traverse the city, including open-tops and double-deckers along the waterfront. You can rent a car in town or at Humberside Airport, about 29 kilometres away.
