Established in 1961, the Cingjing Veterans Farm was settled by demobilised soldiers and their families following the military campaign at the China–Burma border. It has been affectionately nicknamed “Foggy Eden”, with its 1,750-metre-high setting comprising landscaped gardens, lush forests and open pastures dotted with grazing sheep.
In the northern part of the Cingjing Veterans Farm is the Green Green Grassland where you can get up close and interact with a variety of farm animals. Wander through the orchards where peaches, pears and plums are grown, then visit the picturesque Swiss Garden, which is planted with cypresses, maples and colourful flowers.
Learn about Taiwan’s indigenous plant life in the Nature Theatre and Ecological Garden and browse the exhibits detailing the cultural history of the Dai ethnic group in the Veteran Museum. The Cingjing Veterans Farm also cultivates rare Jin Xuan milk oolong tea in its plantation, which can be explored along the Tea Garden Trail.
Getting there
The Cingjing Veterans Farm is around 1.5 hours’ drive from Taichung City and Taichung International Airport, which has flights to destinations across Asia. Buses are the main means of accessing the farm and getting around the region.
