Considered one of the most beautiful villages in the Cotswolds, Bibury lies along the River Coln in Gloucestershire. It’s famed for its stone cottages that once housed weavers who supplied cloth to nearby Arlington Mill and is home to a Saxon-built church featuring stained-glass windows crafted by Karl Parsons.
Enjoy a stroll along Arlington Row, a series of 14th-century storehouses that were converted into weavers’ cottages in the 17th century. It’s now one of the most photographed scenes in the Cotswolds and is regularly used as a film setting. Also of note is Bibury Court, a Jacobean-style mansion that dates back to 1633.
Nestled between Arlington Row and the River Coln is Rack Isle, a low-lying meadow where wool was once hung to dry. It’s designated as a National Trust Wildfowl Reserve and provides important habitat for a diverse range of birds and water-loving plant species.
