Escape to the seaside and enjoy a getaway in Alnmouth. The charming coastal village features brightly-painted houses and centuries-old stone buildings overlooking a sandy beach. You’re in the heart of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), where you’ll find sweeping sandy beaches, soaring sea cliffs and grass-covered dunes.
Enjoy traditional bucket-and-spade fun on Alnmouth Beach. It’s set on an estuary and features calm water, soft sand and beautiful sea views. If you’re feeling adventurous, rent a bike and explore a section of the Coast and Castles Cycle Route.
Learn about the town’s seafaring heritage at Ferryman’s Hut, one of the smallest museums in England. It occupies a former cabin used by ferrymen employed to row passengers across the River Aln. The Old School Gallery is housed in a historic stone building and showcases works by local artists from Northumberland and surrounds. Shop for colourful prints in the gift shop and enjoy lunch at the café.
